In Australia the National Construction Code (NCC or ABC) has no reference for “Below Ground Waterproofing”, thus no set compliance solution or Australian Standard. With the every growing trend in residential and commercial buildings to utilise below ground space, the compliance requirements often demand a “Deemed-to-satisfy Solution”. Many people in the waterproofing industry refer to the British Standard – BS 8102:2009 as the most applicable for Australia.

We have attempted to summarise the British Standard to be applicable for the Melbourne market. The attached document covers the three types of protection outlined in BS 8102, plus some practical notes for our market.
