Hydropel -
Hydropel WB
Protecting against Water Penetration with a Natural Finish Clear water repellent to penetrate external mineral building materials
Hydropel is a clear water based silane / siloxane compound formulated to impart excellent water repellency to a wide variety of mineral building materials. The product is designed to penetrate the first few millimetres of the surface rendering the substrate water repellent dramatically reducing the absorption of water and water born salts whilst still allowing free passage of water vapour.
OUTSTANDING FEATURES:
Excellent penetration.
-UV and alkali stable.
-Product is not a surface coating so there is nothing to blister, wear
or peel.
-Excellent surface water beading effect.
-Does not change the appearance of the treated surface.
-Reduces water and chloride uptake by 95%.
-Reacts chemically with the substrate to form a hydrophobic salt
resistant layer.
-Non corrosive and non flammable.
-Easy application - no volatile hydrocarbons emitted during use.
Brick, concrete, block work, stone, render, mortar, grout, absorbent tiles.
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS:
Surface to be treated should be dry, firm and free from grime, oil and friable laitance. Surface should be cleaned with water or water and detergent and allowed to dry. It is essential that the surface be free of oily products such as form oil. (Use Chemgo special biodegradable cleaner). Do not apply if rain is expected or if conditions are damp and cold (below 10'c) or if excessively hot and windy. Do not splash or spray product on any surfaces not to be treated. If splashes do occur the product can be washed off with water before drying. If the product has dried it can only be removed mechanically. Shake drum of Hydropel thoroughly before use.
Walls
Ready to use solution is applied to the surface by saturation flooding using a hand pressure spray applicator or airless spray equipment set to "wet spray" conditions. Second application must follow a few minutes after first application. This is termed as a "wet-on-wet application". The object is to saturate the surface so that the product can penetrate as deep as possible. Second coat must be applied within 30 minutes.
Paths and Balconies
Apply as above by spray, broom or brush. Do not leave ponding after 30 minutes.
COVERAGE:
The consumption for one "wet-on-wet application" should be in the order of 0.5 to 1 litre per square metre.
CURE TIME:
The initial water repellence will develop in about 4 hours. Product will fully cure in 7 - 10 days.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS:
Avoid contact with skin and eyes. If contact does occur wash off skin and/or flush eyes immediately with copious amounts of water and seek medical advice. Use appropriate clothing including protective gloves and goggles while using product. Keep Out Of Reach Of Children.
STORAGE AND PACKAGING:
Hydropel is not classed as dangerous goods for storage and transport purposes. Hydropel can be stored in scaled plastic containers for 6 months. Protect from freezing and prolonged exposure to temperatures in excess of 35'c. The product should not be used after the use-by date printed on the label. Hydropel is available in 5 and 20 litre containers.
